No. Automated checks are good at spotting patterns such as missing alt text, low colour contrast and unlabelled form fields. They cannot tell whether alt text makes sense, whether a form is usable with a screen reader, or whether a visitor can complete a journey by keyboard. A good score means the common problems are not there. Meeting WCAG 2.2 AA is confirmed by a manual accessibility audit.

Yes, it is free and the results appear straight away. We ask for your name and email so we can send you the link to your scorecard. If you tick the box we will also send a short series of emails about fixing the issues found; leave it unticked and you only get the scorecard.

It runs two automated testing engines, WAVE and axe, against the page you enter and reads the page’s own structure (how many images and links it has, whether there is a form, video or audio) so that missing items are judged in proportion. The two quick questions about keyboard access and a visible focus highlight cover the barriers automated tools cannot see. The results are grouped into five barrier types: readability, read-out-loud meaning, navigation and structure, completing actions, and media.

The checker scans the one URL you enter, not the whole site. Start with your homepage, then check the page where visitors do something that matters, such as enquire, book or buy. Pages built on different templates can score very differently, so two or three checks give a truer picture than one.
